Tips to create a highly motivated staff in your practice

Medical practices have had to adapt to very difficult times. Besides having to learn to live with COVID-19, the constant development of new technology requires extensive staff training, and the creation of new practice workflows.

It doesn’t matter how big or small your medical practice is, that’s a lot to handle. And if you are running on a tight budget, all that additional work will certainly make things more complicated, and your staff can certainly feel when things are

How can you make your staff more productive without financial incentives?

It’s certainly difficult, but the good news is, research suggests multiple factors other than money can be just as effective (if not more so) at motivating the productivity of your staff.

Encourage Teamworking

Everyone will work more productively if they feel they are part of a team. You can take some time every so often to coordinate a small office outing – it can be a meal or happy hour out, or a hosted potluck. Try to celebrate staff birthdays and any other special occasion that your employees and co-workers can appreciate.

Check-in with your staff

Make sure to save some time to have a little talk with your staff to exchange feedback. This is the perfect opportunity to learn of things that can help your practice improve, as well as provide praise and constructive suggestions to your staff.

Praise and gratitude

You’d be surprise to learn how a little praise can go a long way in motivating practice staff. Whenever a staff member handles a tricky patient encounter, goes over and above to provide your clients with exceptional customer care, or remains a source of positivity through an especially overloaded week, make sure you thank them and tell them what a fantastic job they’ve done.

Give small gifts when you can

Not all practices can afford to hand out bonuses every time a staff member deserves it, but what about giving out a few small prizes (like gift cards, tumblers, snack baskets, etc.)? It can be a very inexpensive way to show your staff you appreciate their hard work and dedication
